Magneti Marelli

Magneti Marelli designs and realises systems and advanced components for the automotive industry. With 89 production units and 12 R&D centres in 19 countries, about 43,000 employees and a turnover of 7.9 billion euros in 2016, the group supplies all the major car makers in Europe, North and South America, and the Asia-Pacific region. The business areas include Electronic Systems, Lighting, Powertrain, Suspension and Shock Absorber Systems, Exhaust Systems, Aftermarket Parts & Services, Plastic Components and Modules, Motorsport. Magneti Marelli is part of FCA. In the wake of Weber Carburatori, Bologna hosts the headquarters of Magneti Marelli Powertrain, the business area that deals with engine electronic control systems, components and systems for an hybrid diesel-electric propulsion, advanced injection systems (GDI - Gasoline Direct Injection), mechatronic systems for the implementation on two and four wheels, and advanced transmission systems. Bologna also hosts the R&D centre for hybrid-electric development, the laboratory for testing the reliability of the automotive components and the centre dedicated to two-wheel powertrain systems. One of the key headquarters of Magneti Marelli Motorsport is also in the Bologna area, and includes all the activities linked to the MotoGP technologies and the development of petrol components (injectors, etc.).
